Good to know

The 717 Upper Moonridge is built on a relatively steep hill that descends into some lovely local forest. The cabin is approximately 1500 square feet. Because of the steep hill there is no actual front or backyard area to hang out in, but this is where the large back deck plays an important role. The back deck is very spacious with a grill, an area to lounge and an area to sit and eat. There is a parking pad that can be pulled into directly from the street and connects to a walkway that leads to the front entrance. IMPORTANT NOTE: It is highly recommended only trucks or SUVs be parked on the north end (right side) of the parking pad to avoid scraping or high centering. This side of the parking pad is high due to the angle of the street where it connects with the parking pad. Unfortunately, there is no way to address this. If low profile vehicles are all you have, then it is highly recommended you enter from the south end (left side) and then turn into the north end of the parking pad. This is only necessary if you have a second vehicle that also needs to be parked. If you only have one vehicle then it is best to only use the south end of the parking pad. MAIN FLOOR: This is the floor the main entrance from the parking pad brings you. After entering you are greeted with huge 16' tall cedar plank ceilings, a spacious living room, and a view of the outside deck. The living room is centered around the 55" Smart Roku TV and fireplace. This is the floor that has the fully functional and equipped kitchen. This is also the floor that directly leads to the back deck previously mentioned. There is a queen size pull out bed and a bathroom with a stand-up shower. The sleeper sofa is equipped with a queen-size memory foam mattress and plenty of pillows and blankets. LOWER FLOOR: This is the floor with the two bedrooms and a jack-and-jill bathroom that connects both bedrooms. One bedroom has a king-size bed, and the other bedroom has a queen-size bed. Between the two bedrooms and the main floor pull out, six folks can sleep comfortably.

We provide a map and details of Mountain Transit in The 717 Binder. Some could get away with doing much of their exploration on foot or by bike. This is particularly true when used in combination with public transit and/or the available ride share services. However, car rental is an option as well. PUBLIC TRANSIT: The Mountain Transit System provides free Big Bear Trolley service year-round. There are three routes (Red, Blue, Gold) that can take riders to most visitor attractions and amenities in Big Bear, including the ski resorts, Boulder Bay, The Village, Supermarkets and the Airport. NOTE - It may not be available during bad weather and does not run for New Year’s Day, Independence Day, Thanksgiving, and Christmas. RIDE SHARE COMPANIES: Uber and Lyft operate in the Big Bear area. Also, the Big Bear Cab Company provides an additional ride share option. CAR RENTAL: Renting a car is an option and is a good one if you plan to take drives through the region to find those perfect scenic spots. NOTE - When visiting during the snowy periods, make sure your rental can handle the weather and driving conditions. IMPORTANT NOTES: 1) You should always prepare ahead of time when visiting during snow months. You must have vehicles that can handle the conditions and should bring safety items like a sturdy ice scraper and brush, a small or collapsible shovel, tire chains, hand warmers and gloves, blankets, emergency flares and reflectors, rock salt, sand, and/or kitty litter when getting stuck in snow, first aid kits, extra windshield washer fluid, a flashlight, rope or chain to help with towing, jumper cables, portable battery chargers for mobile phones, water and snacks, etc. 2) My cabin is located on a street that has a decent incline. It is not very steep, but the incline is enough to be an issue when roads get icy. If nothing else, please ensure you have snow chains for icy road conditions. I have more Ring video footage than I care to have of cars sliding into other traveling cars, parked cars, or into the ditch that runs along the street in the middle of the night when icy road conditions set in.
